Christie Accuser Renews Request for Grand Jury Records

Source: New Jersey Law Journal

A former prosecutor who claims that the administration of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie quashed a criminal case to protect political allies and then fired him for objecting has renewed his request for the grand jury transcripts and exhibits, which he claims will help him prove his case.

On Feb. 19, Bennett Barlyn filed a motion to compel disclosure of the records, contending that he can now show a "particularized need" for them, aided by newly obtained evidence.

The records pertain to indictments obtained by the Hunterdon County Prosecutor's Office in 2010 against then-County Sheriff Deborah Trout, Undersheriff Michael Russo and Investigator John Falat Jr.

The indictments, which contained 43 counts, were dismissed in their entirety after the New Jersey Attorney General's Office removed the county prosecutor, replaced him with a deputy attorney general and sent the Trout-Russo-Falat files to Trenton, New Jersey. Shortly after, another deputy attorney general asked the court to throw out the case, saying it was factually and legally flawed.

Ben Barlyn is a very brave and determined man. He's going after this hard. There's one very chilling passage in this article:

The motion papers say another subpoenaed source, William McGovern, who was in charge of the sheriff case, supplied a document saying O'Grady advised him and others it would be "'in the best interests of their families not to drag up the sheriffs' case'" and went so far as to threaten his job, saying, "'I'm sure there's a Mrs. McGovern who appreciates your paycheck.'"

Christie defines the word "arrogant". He is so sure that he can get away with anything he does or says. He needs to be brought down a number of pegs..like a term in the slammer..

It would be terrible if some sort of "unfortunate accident" should befall you or one of your loved ones. If you know what I mean. I've changed my mind. I think Christie would make a great president. Just like Michael Corleone.

I'm going to look him up. This is his comment in the NJ Law Journal which is the newspaper for the state's legal profession. But this is a comment that needs to be spread around.

"I already raised like 15K for [yo]ur campaign. I have lots more coming."

This is a shining example of political corruption at work. Dermot O‘Grady, Paula Dow and Chris Christie should be indicted for obstruction of justice, witness tampering, conspiracy, racketeering, official misconduct, bribery and extortion. The Appellate Division set up a series of hoops for Mr. Barlyn to jump through in order to get discovery that was directly relevant to the central issue in his case. WELL HE JUMPED THROUGH THOSE HOOPS AND HAS PRESENTED DAMNING EVIDENCE! The justice system is hanging on by a very thin thread - confidence in the Judges of the State of New Jersey is low and going lower with every case involving corrupt politicians or connected criminals. This man stood up to rampant criminality in the Sheriff‘s Office and was badly abused by bad people who badly abused the authority vested in their offices. Where are the honest lawyers? Why don‘t they comment and sign their names? When they came for the Hunterdon Prosecutor I didn‘t say anything because I‘m not a Hunterdon Prosecutor.....you either practice law because you believe in justice or you are in the wrong profession.

Christie‘s friends were aided and abetted in the impersonation of police officers in exchange for cash and Mr. Barlyn is the only one who faced consequences - think about that.

Wow! Can I have an Amen!
