KKK issues “call to arms” over Alabama same-sex marriage ruling

Source: Salon/SOUTHERN POVERTY LAW CENTER

The hate group melts down after a federal court rules an amendment banning same-sex marriage unconstitutional

KEEGAN HANKES

In a latest attempt to capitalize on political and racial controversy, a Ku Klux Klan faction from Mississippi has initiated a “Call to arms in Alabama” in response to federal courts ruling that an amendment to the state constitution banning same-sex marriage was unconstitutional.

The post, which appeared on the United Dixie White Knights’ (UDWK) website and later on Stormfront — the largest online white supremacist forum — championed Alabama Supreme Court Justice Roy Moore for defying federal courts and called for Klansmen to leave their robes behind and take to the streets in protest.

“The Mississippi Klan salutes Alabama’s chief justice Roy Moore, for refusing to bow to the yoke of Federal tyranny,” Brent Waller, the UDKW’s imperial wizard, wrote in a Stormfront post. “The fudge packers from Hollywood and all major news networks are in shock that the good people from the heart of Dixie are resisting their Imperialist, Communist Homosexual agenda!”

Waller’s reason for his fellow Klansman to wear plain clothes is simple. “We have made the decision that we don’t want to distract attention away from the issue, as anytime the Klan rides, we are made the issue by the zionist controlled media,” he wrote. Not that wearing robes and hoods has been a consideration before.

I didn't think so.....third poorest state.

3. Alabama
•Return on Taxpayer Investment: $3.28
•Funding as Percentage of Revenue: 37 percent
•Federal Employees Per Capita: 11.66

Another state located along the Gulf Coast, Alabama has become notorious for being one of the deepest red and also one of the most poverty-stricken in the nation. The state is home to five military bases, and a major port city in Mobile. Alabama is also ranked highly in terms of it’s population of the economically-disadvantaged, with some reports pegging it as high as the sixth-poorest in the nation.

With a poverty-stricken population, not many people are able to pay much — if any — in taxes, and tend to get substantial government assistance. There are a lot of reasons that Alabama has reached its current situation, and that has led to the state is highly dependent on Washington at the current time.

not a big deal. "Yes that group agrees with us, but we don't blah blah blah."
But there is really no way that anyone believes that spin. You can't be on the side of the KKK on an issue against Equality and not have people think you're revoltingly intolerant on other issues.
"I agree with them on gay marriage, but they are wrong when it comes to blacks."
That paint stains.

They would just get chased out of town if they paraded in public with them on. That is what commonly happens these days.

The most dangerous racists today look like Mitt Romney and, of course, Chief Justice Roy Moore.

Does anyone have statistics on homosexuals in white supremacist groups?

I suspect their rate of gays is markedly higher than that of the population in general. I know from various white supremacist groups I have followed they have a high incidence of child and spouse/girlfriend abuse and I'm betting they have more than their share of gays who are using their white supremacy ravings as a cover.

It happens you know, it's real, and GLBT people are the victims of the hate these assholes generate on a regular basis.

It's easy to dismiss if you're not the person living alongside of people who pay attention to these messages, I understand that, but the problem with that is this insanity resonates with people all over the country. We're all living alongside someone with whom this hate filled insanity resonated.

50 yrs ago, many would proudly CLAIM belonging. These days I'd bet most who think their way would hide a "membership" and i wonder what the real numbers would actually be. I never even heard of stormfront until i read about it here, and I live in the south. I think giving them press is a mistake, but at the same time they should be watched. Just dont make them feel like their words are important by putting them on a front page. I guess poking fun at them is my way of telling them how low they are.
And I do want to see just how many folks show up for this street protest.

that when those 20 or 30 unrobed KKK guys walk with their guns on display , there will be 200 or 300 reporters there to record the event. Yes, that is what they really want.

I say, let them parade and record every one of them that are collecting welfare or gov. benefits checks so that we can run a background check to see how disabled they really are.

the right wing usually claims that others don't have jobs, like the crowds at President Obama's inauguration. When in reality they are likely the ones without jobs. A lot of them are probably retired living on social security and medicare.
