New Democratic Underground URL shortener: DEMU.GR

To save space when sharing links to DU, we have created a new URL shortener: demu.gr

It works on any Democratic Underground URL. Just change "democraticunderground.com" to "demu.gr" and leave the rest of the URL the same. Whenever someone visits a demu.gr page, our software recognizes the short URL and automatically swaps in the full democraticunderground.com address. Check it out:

http://demu.gr

http://demu.gr/?com=latest_threads

http://demu.gr/?com=greatest_threads

http://demu.gr/?com=forums

And here are links to two discussion threads:

http://demu.gr/1002965677

http://demu.gr/1014169738

In addition, the "Tweet" button on every DU thread has been programmed to automatically place the shortened URL into your tweet.

We will be integrating this URL shortening functionality into other DU features in the future.

21. I kind of wished they'd used Bouvet Island

It's on the drop-down box for "home country" on websites all over the world, even though no one actually lives there.

5. Thank you Administrators.

For listening to a concern and acting on that concern.

And the shortening is great also.

19. No longer funding Uganda ?

2. I appreciate the thought, but why are we giving money to Uganda?

http://www.democraticunderground.com/10131751#post2

Why don't we fund the US ?
I say let the EU bail out the Greeks.

10. As to the other one -

How about parking an explanation there about why .ug is not being used. As long as DU owns it until May-ish next year, why not let it do some educating.

11. Why are you offshoring DU, Skinner? Do we need to check your long-form tax return??

12. Thanks. Now regarding the other stuff that shows up automatically when tweeting ...

When ever I send out a tweet from DU - I always have to edit out the words 'Democratic Underground' that show up there automatically (still do)

because that takes up too many characters and I need all that I can get for the tweet and all the extra hash-tags that I add.

In my opinion the words 'Democratic Underground' doesn't need to be included in the tweet because when someone clicks on the link in my tweeted out tweet they will see that they end up here at DU.

I hope I explained that clearly enough

15. You can edit your tweet before you send it.

Just delete the text you don't want.

At least we now know that the straight Democrats have not been paying one shred of attention to this human rights crisis. That's good to know.
