VALENTINE HEARTS WEEK! -- Spread the Love and Support Planned Parenthood!This discussion thread was locked by Skinner (a host of the Announcements group). 
It's Valentine Hearts Week on DU, but this year we're doing something different. Instead of raising money for DU, we are raising money for Planned Parenthood! 
If you purchase valentine hearts to give to other DU members, the full purchase price (minus processing fees) will be donated to Planned Parenthood. None of the funds collected during this charity drive will be kept by Democratic Underground, and the purchase of hearts does not count toward a DU Star Membership. If you wish to support Democratic Underground and sign up for a DU Star Membership, you will be given the opportunity to do so after you purchase your hearts. IMPORTANT: Please be aware that because your payment is going through Democratic Underground, you will not get credit for your payment from Planned Parenthood, and you will not be eligible for a tax deduction. Valentine Hearts are only $1 each -- that's 80% less than they were a year ago! Perhaps next year to help raise money for a good cause you guys could add a new dimension to the hearts. Make it $1 to give a heart (love the low price BTW!) and $5 to take one away from a member?
Then when members get in a spat, instead of tossing insults back and forth they could pay up to yank a heart from the other member! Imagine what that could do to the dollar amount of the final donation! Don't yank my hearts, I'm only kidding!  |

I am a Breast Cancer Survivor & thriving..This latest assault on women's health by the extreme right wing that has infiltrated Komen, is a travesty for many of us. Planned Parenthood serves all of us and doesn't discriminate. I Love Linda, she tells it straight, "What Breast Cancer is, and what it is not". You won't see this honesty in a Komen advertisement. They don't want to dirty up the cute pink ribbon image. This is the truth, this is the image thousand's of women see when they look in the mirror, including me.
