Well, there goes the neighborhood.

MY representative, Lindsey Holmes, just changed her affiliation to Republican. Has the session even started yet?

1. Judging from the comments in the paper, people are not pleased.

I mean, really... you vote for someone, they get elected and THEN they switch parties? Sounds like cheating to me.

4. The Democratic Party needs to make candidates sign a pledge

that, if they change parties, they'll refund all the money the party raised and spent electing them.

It's time to get past this "we can't ask ANYTHING of these people" mentality.

We're gonna collapse if our party leadership keeps tolerate disloyal pols fleecing us like this.

5. Ken, I actually got approached this evening

to run for district 19 party chair to spearhead recall efforts. I have no idea how to do that, but I'll be talking to the chair of the Anchorage Democrats in the next couple of days. I may just have to get involved beyond keyboard warring. Yikes.

6. Yeah, this kind of shit HAS to be brought to a stop.

The party can't recover if it shows no self-respect.

And refusing to punish people for this sort of disloyalty is not only a lack of self-respect, but outright institutional self-loathing.

Good luck with your meeting with the Anchorage Dem chair. And good luck with the district chair campaign if you decide to go there.

7. Well, I'm retired, so I have plenty of time.

And I'd like nothing better than to recall Ms. Holmes, who stabbed us all in the back.

We're you around in 1997? Didn't Dave Donley pull this same kind of stunt?
