This election is his to lose. They do not have it locked by any measure.

A week or two ago, I read that he had described Iowa as a three-part caucus: The moderate contest, between Romney and Huntsman, the far-out one with only Paul, and the conservative showdown between himself, Perry and Bachmann. Looks like he hasn't moved off of that language.

Maybe not to beat Bachmann, but to beat Perry? Despite Perry's fall, he's still retained 10-15 percent in various polls. Ricky has barely cracked the low single digits. If you go from 2 to 16, you've still increased your support by a factor of 8.

That being said, Perry has $$ to keep running even if he doesn't do great in Iowa. Santorum many not have much gas left even if he does do better than expected.

I predict Santorum does better than expected in Iowa, but that will just result in a stay of execution for him. He'll still be long gone before this thing is over.
