Stinky The Clown

I look at the repubican field in Iowa and I am made to marvel . . . .

. . . . that John Huntsman can't get any traction.

Of the entire herd of defectives, morons, kooks, crazies, bobble heads, and bigots, he seems to me the most normal and reasonable. And in so saying, I have probably answered my own question. The electorate that keeps people like Ron Bachmann, Mitt Paul, Michele Gingrich and Newt Santorum, in office or still viable is fucking crazy and highly bigoted. Just look at the stances of these people.

I'm surely not pimping Huntsman, but geeeze, he seems the least crazy and there he is. Dead last.

What does that say about the people who will be choosing the next repubican looking to sit in warm seat in that white house?

edit to add the missing "r" to "marvel" in the thread title.

All we hear about is how the Republicans are unhappy with the potentials, and you'd think someone with an ounce of sanity would appeal to those who aren't RW whacks.

It's gotta be the money - it always is.

NBC News had an interview with an "Iowa Voter".. a white-haied lady (about 65 years old..) who said that, " she ADORES Michelle Bachmann and hopes she is elected."

These people watch Fox News... hang on every word from Rush Limbaugh.. and are out there driving around on our highways.

Very scary....

I like him, but he will never win the GOP nomination. His major problem is GOP voters. He is seen as far too liberal and he worked for the President.

However, I do think someone like Huntsman could actually win some states if they ran as a third party. The GOP primary voters are insane these days. There is a moderate voter out there, and there would be a market for him/her.

voting Dem Socialist in 2012. I watched one of the Repuke debates and was simply terrified and horrified (and also enraged) and thought to myself, "These people simply cannot be allowed near the White House. It will mark the end of America." It was a more visceral feeling than I ever got from either Bush or Reagan and they were terrifying and horrifying enough.

ETA: Yes Huntsman in that debate came across as the most sane and sober-headed. But Huntsman is fully on board with war with Iran, as opposed to Ron Paul. So it may come down to "You picks your crazy."

he lacks the requisite nasty stew of stupid, crazy, phony and mean that the others have in varying proportions.

Gingrich: 40% mean, 40% phony, 20% crazy
Paul: 50% crazy, 50% mean
Perry: 60% stupid, 20% phony, 10% mean, 10% crazy
Bachmann: 50% crazy, 30% stupid, 20% mean
Romney: 80% phony, 20% mean

as if it were a spot on cartoon with well chosen apt words. Their stances, which i also observe, floated to mind.

First I delight in the crafting of your post, secondarily I agree with your observations about Huntsman. It's a field of candidates that seems to rotate around changing front runners. Huntsman's inability to rise from the spot of dead last can only be explained by the lack of knowledge in your average Republican voter.

A relatively presentable candidate with a brain is not a good representative of them. I wonder why Huntsman even wants to do it.

The scariest thing is that whoever they nominate - no matter how batshit crazy - has an actual chance of winning in November, if the pre-election manipulation is done well. Given that it only takes money, yes, I'm worried.
