Obama opens up big lead in poll of Latino voters

President Barack Obama has a 70-22 percent lead over Republican challenger Mitt Romney among Latino voters, according to a new poll released Wednesday.

The Latino Decisions national survey comes about a month after both candidates spoke to the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials, and have made strong pitches for the Hispanic vote. snip

Obama had failed to stir great enthusiasm among many Latino voters until recently. But his June 15 directive allowing many younger undocumented workers to stay in this country gave him a boost.

The poll found that among foreign-born, naturalized citizens Obama leads 72-19 percent, and among U.S.-born Latinos he leads 69-25 percent.

Rmoney absolutely MUST get >31% of the Latino vote in order to win. With numbers like he's putting up with Latinos now, Texas and Arizona could end up in play.

"Romney is not a christian" It also helps that the only way Romney relates to Latinos is if they are servicing some need of his.

If the gender issues affect the women's vote, Rmoney may be in a deep hole.

I think Romney needs at least 35% of the hispanic vote to win. Most objective analysis put that mark at 40%.

25% or 30% will not get it done for him. A number that large in the Presidents favor flips Colorado, Nevada and holds New Mexico. With these 3 states and Iowa, Obama could lose Florida, Ohio, Virginia and North Carolina and STILL WIN THE ELECTION.
