Read My Lips: No. New. Tax. Returns!

Josh Marshall

Over the last hour or so we’ve seen The National Review and Rick Perry tell Mitt Romney to go ahead and release his tax returns. So by tomorrow morning Mitt needing to release more tax returns may be part of the 2012 GOP platform.

<...>

At this point, clearly we’d want to know about his 1999-2002 tax returns. And you’d also want to find out whether he got into any unfortunate misunderstandings about Swiss bank accounts in the late aughts.

So to give some parameters he could either do the Full Pops (12 years of returns) or the Full McCain (23 years of returns).

President Obama has ponied up for the FP already.

This is going to get really interesting if he doesn't give in. I think it means he has something on them that could land him in jail. The LAST thing a 1%er wants is to be put at risk of going to jail, and of having a hefty fine levied against them for tax evasion.
