Thanks DU for being my refuge from Facebook

I have Facebook Friends that post some of idiotic anti-Obama shit. I never get involved in the discussion. I find FB a very poor avenue for debate. I think getting into politics or religion on FB just ends badly. it opens up areas of my life to Friends who don't know or care about my leanings. And you don't get any meaningful dialog anyway.
So when I am tempted to shout down the latest Faux News crap some one posts, I can bite my lip and come hwere for sanity and to vent.
Thank you all for being there.

Most of my friends are either Democrats or not the least bit political but every once in a while when someone posts something stupid (or is clearly coming from the right wing media), I find myself jumping in- either on their wall or in a personal message with the goal of attempting to show a different perspective. Most of the time it gets me nowhere of course but sometimes I think, just maybe, it helps to inspire seeing things a bit differently. But there are many times when I feel torn about saying something knowing it really will not make a difference, sadly.

As for DU- it's a great hang-out for sure. And a very special community.

I was just going to post "why are you friends with them there then?"

You have the option to defriend them. Glad you took that route.

I, personally, could really care less what people post on their Facebook. It's their page; they're free to post what they want. I post some anti-GOP stuff at times. That's my right. You don't like it: Ignore it, defriend me or get over it. I do the same when folks post anti-DEM stuff.

we have other interests in common or are old friends from school days. Some are conservative and when they post things I ignore it and don't let it interfere with the friendship.
People who I only know through Facebook don't get a pass. A post once or twice a year maybe, but routinely and they are gone.
