I don't know how the people who have lost power, for days, are coping because I would go insane. I don't have air conditioning, but at least I can run a fan.
On the bright side, my tomato plants are doing great.

(32,061 posts)I live in that dark brown strip along the GA-SC border. We've been getting those pop-up thunderstorms in the area for the past few days. But, they've been popping up everywhere but where I live. I watered this morning to tempt fate, but fate usually ignores any temptations I present.

(36,063 posts)I remember a few years back when the Clark's Hill reservoir was almost drained...you guys seem to get the drought regularly.

(32,061 posts)I'm just east of Augusta, and it's like we are in some sort of rain shadow. We got a nice bit of rain a few weeks ago, but it was nowhere near enough. Everything is all crispy again.
2008 was the first year Clark's Hill (I refuse to call it "Lake Thurmond" almost went dry. It was way down last year, too. I suspect this year will be bad, as well.

(5,179 posts)It's a little hotter than usual but otherwise a typical muggy NY summer, with occasional rain. Wish I could share the reasonable weather with all my fellow DUers.
