(82,849 posts)I know that not all people of faith regard women as second class citizens, the way this proposal clearly does. Maybe there's another element to this?

(28,969 posts)this stupidly...Stop blaming everything on "religion". It's lazy and wrong. There are lots of blue state folks in the country who have "religion", and they don't frack their states into earthquake ridden disasters.
OKNancy
(41,832 posts)The mild earthquakes are caused by waste water injection, not fracking.
Oklahoma is actually not a hell hole either for most people.
The politics sucks, but fortunately the stupid laws are all overturned, so none have gone into effect.
whathehell
(28,969 posts)I'm not trying to offend you, but my understanding is that the injection of the waste water is part of the fracking process.

(62,346 posts)They certainly aren't conservative. They are nuts with an intent to hurt the poor and POC while totally controlling their lives.
I am not screaming at you, it's these useless words and media that we have that smooth this crap over with words that sound somewhat innocuous.
What they are are fucking sociopaths who have been given power and are wielding it with a vengeance.
edit to add: Welcome to DU. I didn't mean to make you feel uncomfortable.

(32 posts)The demoralization youve been feeling with Trump and the Republicans is something weve been feeling for a long time.
The more control Republicans have (and theyve long had it here) the meaner they get. The national political scene is giving them validation.
They seem excited about the damage they can do. Theyre taking it to new levels.

Now, if that happens now are they just going to make the mother die?

(2,766 posts)I read recently that Utah is the worst state for women. I wish I had the link to review all of the reasons Utah had received that unfortunate title. It had to do with wages, domestic protections and reproductive rights. My husband grew up there and I've spent many of my adult holidays with his family there. My granddaughter, step daughter, sisters-in-law and mother-in-law all live there. It seemed like a reasonable call based on what the article looked at and my own anecdotal evidence. I think Oklahoma could replace Utah at the bottom if they keep this up, though.
Women of Oklahoma, run for office!

(1,901 posts)patients about the health of their pregnancies if they were anti-choice and thought the patient would terminate the pregnancy.
Apparently not enough Ob/Gyns are twisted enough to shirk their legal, ethical and moral responsibility to give their patients all the information they can so that they can make informed healthcare decisions.
Those darn women and their families were daring to make the difficult but necessary decisions to not put themselves through a masochistic level of pain, to risk their health and their sanity to carry pregnancies that would produce a severely ill newborn, who would be suffering for the short time it would be alive.
So OK had to block that avenue of escape and force them to experience the sadism that the GOP of Oklahoma, (where even rape and incest are OK!) really wished to visit upon their citizens. Not just women, but their families too.
