One could argue republican voters are more afraid of manufactured fear than reality based fear.

This is one reason why they vote against their own best interests. In general, democrats do not do this. It must be how republicans brains are wired that causes them to be easily mislead.

The GOP for years has exploited their voters with manufactured fear. It's a process. They have meetings to develop talking points based on manufactured fear. They all get on the same page and hit the airwaves. They overwhelm their voters with manufactured fear.

There are many examples of how they put manufactured fear first.. A republican union worker will have less fear voting for a union buster and have more fear of a manufactured fear like, obama is a muslim.

A republican voter who has obamacare will have less fear of voting for trump and the GOP who want to get rid it and have more fear of a manufactured lie about hillary. She's a crook.

How can people at a trump rally cheer lock her up? As they cheer for a guy who has been crooked his entire life? They do not fear the reality right in front of them. Instead they fear the manufactured fear about hillary.

Trump voters are not simply stupid, they have a mental defect.
