I've just had a thought. The GOP gerrymandering has pushed the GOP elected reps to the extremes.

Now they can't get legislation through the House in Congress because the party represents too wide a spectrum...including fooled Dem voters in swing states. And Trump was vague enough to appeal to all.

Knowing some of those Districts,nothing changes until the Democratic Party goes in a spends the big Bucks and knock on doors . It does work.

as we see with the FBI investigations.

They are suppose to be protecting the country against enemies foreign and domestic but as we see with Nunes they are trying to protect the criminals.

4. Agreed in large part... but rather than between competing ideologies, I think the real GOP schism...

...is between the ultra-conservative ideology of rich fetishists of administrative deconstruction (Bannon, Ryan et al) and the real-world needs of those Republicans who haven't the luxury to be so ideologically fixated because they work for a living and actually need affordable health care.

Conservatism at its heart is heartlessness. And most people are better than that.

5. That makes sense. Works either way. And I think the voters on the Ryan end are fooled too.
