The advocacy groups helmed by Charles and David Koch have unveiled a new pool of money for advertisements, field programs and mailings that would exclude those who vote for the health care bill they oppose on Thursday. The effort, which they described as worth millions of dollars, is an explicit warning to on-the-fence Republicans from one of the most influential players in electoral politics not to cross them.
The Koch-aligned networks oppose the bill because they think it does not do enough to scale back former President Barack Obama's health care policies.
"We want to make certain that lawmakers understand the policy consequences of voting for a law that keeps Obamacare intact," Americans for Prosperity president Tim Phillips said. "We have a history of following up and holding politicians accountable, but we will also be there to support and thank the champions who stand strong and keep their promise."
very brazen.

(25,241 posts)reminded of this blatant bribe so We The People can put the final nail in the coffin of the Repug Party.
It's not enough that this Repug Party wants to pass healthcare that will purge 24 million Americans from their healthcare insurance - but they are being bribed to make it even worse. What is up with these monsters? How can they live with themselves? How could they look in the mirror?

(6,390 posts)Many corporations who offer health insurance would love a single payer system. No worries if their competitor is paying a lower rate for the same coverage, no team of people and thus salaries, dealing purely with health insurance companies, making the playing field equal in health benefits, etc.
All I can think of is, the Koch brothers have a very "cushy" deal with health insurance companies...and they don't want to play fair.

(19,564 posts)Hospital networks which have expanded their service to rural regions, specialist and their support networks which have expanded. Doctors who moved to less populated areas expecting to cash in on the newly insured. Nursing homes, and to a lesser extent assisted living facilities. A lot of medical people will lose out, don't be fooled by the Republicans talking points.
A lot of very big money will be lost here. All sacrificed for the tax cuts for the extremely wealthy. Even insurance companies would come out better in the long run, if their CEO's weren't only looking at their annual bonuses.
There are more losers here than the obvious people who will lose their healthcare coverage. Don't think there isn't. That's how we managed to sell the ACA to these weasels in the first place. Then partisan politics destroyed all that hard work. Now here we are.

(2,770 posts)As soon as we are able, this issue must be front and center. We will have lots of work to do rebuilding after these monsters finally are gone from office, but campaign finance reform and an end to gerrymandering will give us a chance to regain our democracy.
