http://www.politico.eu/article/germany-to-use-speech-recognition-to-establish-migrant-origins-refugees-asylum/amp/Germany’s Federal Migration Office (BAMF) will use speech recognition software to establish where migrants entering the country have come from, local media reported Friday.
Working out where asylum seekers originated is crucial to the ultimate success of their claim. The suspicion is that some people lie about where they are from in order to improve their chances of asylum.
Until now the authorities have used interpreters to determine migrant origins, but a BAMF spokesperson said that it would now switch to recording speech samples for automatic dialect analysis.
