That's a quote.

(8,695 posts)So it's only a state's rights issue if you trying to oppress or hurt people but it's a federal issue when they want to control your personal decisions? Got it.
So I can drink myself into oblivion but I cannot smoke a little weed?
State's will not go back on this and the USSC will not side with the government.
You cannot keep insisting things are "state's rights" issues but change course as it suits you.
Law doesn't work that way.

(39,343 posts)I'm waiting on Florida to determine the means and methods of distribution and licensing to those who require it after having passed a ballot amendment last November.
I'd like to eventually NOT be a criminal for treating my conditions.
So states have rights to monitor who pees where but not the right to have its citizens vote to overturn ridiculous prohibitions on harmless substances?
It's bullshit

(7,769 posts)Unless Sessions goes rogue and goes after state-legal medicinal marijuana also....

(39,343 posts)I hate that term because it does sound like people just goofing around getting stoned all day long.
I prefer "adult use" legalization.

(8,695 posts)Almost a clear majority of states have either legalized or medical marijuana or both. A significant majority have no marijuana laws to speak of or have chosen to not enforce them at all.
This is a state's rights issue. States are not going to give up billions in revenue.
This issue will disappear in a puff of smoke.

(26,044 posts)Sessions, from long before he became AG, has made no bones about how the federal government needed to "be the grown-up" and ban states from legalizing not only recreational but medical marijuana use. He has said, and this is an exact quote, that the government needed "to return us to the time where Nancy Reagan told America 'just say no'." So, people are shocked that, once given the power, he plans to use it?
