No, the liberal left doesnt harbor deep-seated desires and grand plans to control every aspect of your life in political correct totalitarian style. Youre being told that because it makes you easier to influence politically (there's nothing so unifying as a common enemy).
Yes, the folks on the left do love America too, and no, they dont hate you or your freedoms. Whoever tells you these things is not your friend or ally- youre their tool to the extent you believe that stuff. When lefties sound frustrated with you, part of that is they dont like that youre being taken advantage of in ways that affect everyone. Also, theyve been trying to tell you this a lot, but it doesnt seem to be getting across.
Liberals are never coming for your guns. They might want you to comply with some rules and accept some limitations to their use, and some are beyond angry with how the gun die-hards refuse to accept any regulation whatsoever, but its just. not. going. to. happen. The folks telling you its gonna happen are the same folks who just sold you your stockpiles of ammo at price-gouging rates because you were convinced you had to buy it while you could. Theyre not your friends; youre their marks.
No, lefties arent in favor of Sharia law when they make it clear they dont like to see Muslims discriminated against. It means they dont want the USA to act like a theocracy, not because they want to impose a Muslim one.

(1,629 posts)Bork and Scalia were Reagan's payback to the Christian Right for joining the GOP coalition back in the 80's... and both had a dangerous agenda... to sabotage the Ninth Amendment, key rule of constitutional construction that placed on the government the burden of proving a legitimate social need to limit a right. Bork and Scalia wanted to change that to the government having the power to limit rights and the People had the burden of creating rights legislatively.
