Karl Rove's Bisexual Affair Might Have Sparked His Bizarre Rant on Fox NewsKarl Rove is having a bisexual affair with the president of a conservative bloggers' group, and concern about being outed sparked last week on Greta Van Susteren's Fox News program.
More at Legal Schnauzer.
Rove's lover is Ali Akbar, president of the National Bloggers Club, an umbrella group that grew from the activism of the late right-wing publisher and pundit Andrew Breitbart. A left-leaning Web site called Breitbart Unmasked recently disclosed that Akbar has a criminal record that includes convictions for credit-card fraud, theft, and burglary. The stunning allegations about Rove and Akbar are included in a letter sent yesterday from Alabama attorney Dana Jill Simpson to Robert Bauer, counsel for President Barack Obama's 2012 re-election campaign. The letter also includes an appeal for a presidential pardon on behalf of former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman. Rove, appearing with Van Susteren on the June 20 edition of On the Record, took a question about the tax-exempt status of certain PACs and turned it into an attack on Simpson, Bauer, and Siegelman--who was the target of perhaps the most notorious political prosecution in U.S. history. Looks a lot like the one in your picture. That being said, and I am sure you know Goldens, even a Golden would run away from Rove, hell they might even growl, which my Golden has done NEVER at a human. (now he does make a snoring sound while being scratched, that some people confuse with a growl. Not sure how when the eyes are rolled back and the tongue hanging out like your picture)

IGWS that this parsing of "bisexual" "affair" is a convenient way to draw attention from the news that Rove is apparently in a hawt hookup with a gay Muslim thief. That should go over well with teh Tea Party... |

|
But he's very good at it. He's good at not leaving fingerprints. And unfortunately, we don't have enough people on our side who think like he does. That's the only way we can nail him. Think like he does and think around him. Then you might not be caught as flat-footed every time he pulls some new maneuver. His is a devious game. So we have to match him on deviousness in order to contain him and head him off at the pass. I don't think anyone on our side truly understands this. To most, it's - "oh, we CAN'T do THAT!!!! It'd make us just like THEM!" Well, I want to be able to beat them so soundly they don't come back to power for YEARS. That's the only way we have a chance to fix a few things. And our side is full of spineless people who cling to their precious feather dusters when it's time to go face the gun fight.

I don't think it's a lifestyle choice - I also don't think society has any place caring whether it's a lifestyle choice or not. Gays should be allowed to get married, adopt kids, whatever straight people can do, and this "gay-shaming" of Rove is a step backward for us. We know Rove is a hypocrite in many ways. What do we gain by bringing up unsubstantiated rumors of bisexual affairs? We come across as homophobes and we do more to legitimize homosexuality witch hunts than we do to damage Rove's reputation.

|
I don't think it matters what someone's orientation is. But it is important to confront "lifestyle choice" as that implies that sexual orientation is a choice and wtf is "lifestyle" in regards to orientation? It isn't "lifestyle" but orientation.
"I also don't think society has any place caring whether it's a lifestyle choice or not." I do. Sexual orientation isn't a "choice" or a "lifestyle". I care when people think it is. Again, I don't care what orientation someone is unless I am involved with them. |

190. Here's my reasoning.
|
We're making a big issue of his alleged bisexuality... based on flimsy evidence no less. Are we not? A major part of homophobia is about making a big issue of one's homosexuality - and making them look bad in the process. How are we NOT making a big issue of Rove's sexual preferences, and how are we NOT trying to make him look bad in the process? If Karl Rove turned out to be heterosexual and we had always assumed he was homosexual, would this be a scandal? Why not? Why is there never a scandal about being heterosexual, but there is one about being homosexual? That just buys into the bullshit notion that homosexuality is somehow deviant.
Truthfully, I'm in the process of purging myself of the indoctrination that there is any such thing as "deviant" in a relationship between consenting adults. |

the term for that is "homosexual" affair, not bi-sexual affair. and there is nothing wrong with that in itself...it is the bigotry of of someone who is on record against gay rights now being discovered as having a gay affair. the bigotry is the issue. |
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-20024629-503544.html
Eleven months into his 2nd year in office, Barack Obama granted his first presidential pardons. They went to 9 individuals for offenses ranging from conspiracy to distribute cocaine to mutilation of coins. His first acts of Executive Clemency were announced in a press release from the Justice Department, home to the Office of the Pardon Attorney which processes and assesses requests for pardons - and then makes recommendations to the president. The announcement contained no statement or explanation from Mr. Obama as to why he pardoned the 9 men and women selected, but White House spokesman Reid Cherlin was ready with an explanation: "The president was moved by the strength of the applicants' post-conviction efforts at atonement, as well as their superior citizenship and individual achievements in the years since their convictions." |

Israel keeps on asking to have Pollack, who was convicted, released and three presidents have said, no, I think. No one is interested in doing it. That is a political matter, too. Thanks for telling me about the pardons Obama has granted, those were good. Ford and the Nixon pardon. He resigned in disgrace, it seemed tgood enough. In the end, it was not good enough. In the court of public opinion, Nixon was worse than dead. He deserved to be impeached and it was going to happen. Nixon had already lost Agnew to scandal and Ford was considered 'nice.' It was why Ford got his tail handed to him. At least we had 4 years of Carter. Then the nightmare returned. |

My bet is that if he did pardon the guy, he'd do it later rather than sooner.
He might have been inclined to do it sooner if the accused had spent more of his appeal time in the pokey. There is such a political patina on some pardons (Marc Rich, Cap "If I go down, everyone goes down" Weinberger, e.g.) that it's just easier to do them on the way out the door, and when the disloyal opposition cries, whines, expresses poutrage and gnashes those yellowing teeth, the incumbent can just flip 'em the bird and say "Fuck y'all--ah'm outta here!" |

Last edited Wed Jun 27, 2012, 03:26 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1) Like others on DU, I would be delighted, I think "Schadenfreude" is the word -- joy in someone else's misery, if it were true, but is there more evidence to back this up?
Is it just a rumor? The article carefully includes the disclaimer language "allegation," etc. Why are these rumors being repeated on DU when based on so little evidence? I hate it when people make insinuations about someone's sex life unless they have proof. And even then, what business do we have nosing into someone's sex life if they aren't in office. Rove is influential, but what if he is homosexual or bisexual? What does that have to do with anything important? Sorry to be a party pooper, but I'm so tired of phony, manufactured sex scandals. |

I thought maybe you would mention that Rove isn't a very good person. I'd have to agree on that point too. But still, we have a lot of serious issues to think about in this country, and the latest sex scandal is just a distraction in my opinion. |

144. People like salacious rumors that suggest intolerant people are engaging in the behavior they
|
publicly aver to abhor. People also do like sex scandals, they like to talk about sex, who's zoomin' who, that kind of thing. It's human nature.
It's unfortunate, though, when people try to suggest anything more than rank hypocrisy when they are giggling like schoolchildren over the rumors. When people start characterizing the person's orientation--which is entirely a function of who the person is, nothing that is a cause for favor or blame--as "good" or "bad" then you've got trouble. Basically, if this rumor is true, the guy is just a massive hypocrite. I will say that one source does not make an allegation. It just makes for a hugely ironic supposition. I hope some reporter has the fortitude to ASK Rove about his personal relationship with this fellow--and not just the 'sexy party' parts. Without a second or third source, and something a bit more solid than a blog, this rumor, even if true, will have a flash in the pan and then fade away. |

That being said, gossip is a natural human tendency. And there's always public interest in who might or might not be in the closet. That's pretty much tabloid/celebrity stuff and there's not much anybody can do about it.
But I also believe in respecting privacy, even the privacy of public figures. I'm generally opposed to making the details of sex lives public knowledge when no laws have been broken. It's one thing if a partner goes public. It's quite another when everybody involved wants privacy. At that point, you're pretty much in paparazzi territory. I don't feel I have a need or right to know what Karl Rove does in private. |

He was exuding more charisma than any one individual should be allowed to have." He had the vapors. |

Hot military stud was working with conservative bloggers in discrediting Tom Daschle in South Dakota.
Daschle's opponent was John Thune. Thunes Campaign Manager was a "good" friend of Karl Rove. Whatshisname the campaign manager was so impressed with Guckert that he introduced him to Rove. Fart Blossom apparently had press credentials issued to Guckert possibly as a reward for dirty tricks(so to speak at $250 an hour). Guckert at that point had no work history in the journalism field so liberal bloggers dug into and revealed his past as a "top" escort. Oh,the irony! Rumors of Rove's sexual orientation from the days of the tricky dick administration aroused suspicions in the minds of many that a pay-for-play situation had arisen in the steamy back rooms in DC above and beyond payment for sabotaging the Dems and for asking soft ball answers from Ari Fliescher framed in the form of questions. I hope this helps,I know it helped my morale after the stolen 2000 erection. |

What sort of person writes a 'news report' that not only assumes facts not proven, but ascribes those unknowns as the motivation for an unrelated outburst on FoxNews? Answer: A McCarthyite sort of person.
This sort of crap is Rove type crap, this piece is as bad as Rove, which takes some effort. |

206. Why is just about every individual we find to be revolting "accused" of being gay

or bisexual at some point?
Seems a tad homophobic to me. |

207. the old Velvet Mafia allegations, if true, are relevant only to the extent that Rove demagogued
|
on issues of sexual orientation. The fact that Rove has used sexual orientation as a wedge leaves him open to people saying, "whoa, wtf" when these allegations are made.
it's not homophobic to point out the hypocrisy. http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/archives/individual/2006_10/009656.php |

211. You can't have a bisexual affair with one person
|
Last edited Thu Jun 28, 2012, 11:23 AM USA/ET - Edit history (1) You can have a "gay affair" if you are a man sleeping with a man or a woman sleeping with a woman. But you can't sleep with one who is both a man and a woman, so a bisexual affair is impossible unless it is with both a man and a woman... ie a threesome... or a series of affairs with both men and women.
You could BE bisexual and have an affair of a gay or straight fashion. Soooo.... Karl Rove allegedly had a gay affair and is allegedly bisexual. I would state however that having sex with another man does not make one gay or bisexual at all. So this point is entirely muddled. |
