a sitting President, George W. Bush, did not attend his party's convention in '08
He 'attended' via satellite with a 5 minute address on the big screen..
And we should be clutching our pearls over Claire freaking McCaskill not attending Charlotte? Don't let the media tell you what to think.

2. Keep asking

Reporters should keep asking the R-money and the GOP what role they will give Bush in the convention and election. Afterall, don't the all "miss him yet."

3. Good point, and of course reporters won't ask.
|

5. Campaign chief urges Democrats to skip convention
|
The Democrat charged with trying to win back the House majority is telling his candidates that it's OK to skip the party's national convention. Rep. Steve Israel, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, told a gathering hosted by Reuters his advice has nothing to do with President Obama. "If they want to win an election, they need to be in their district," Israel said yesterday at the Reuters Washington Summit. The New York lawmaker added: "I don't care if the president was at 122% favorability right now. I think (candidates) should be in their district." <snip> More here http://content.usatoday.com/communities/onpolitics/post/2012/06/steve-israel-democrats-skip-convention-/1#.T-sYkLWWfAk |
