State (FL) moves to block voter-registration group
State officials are considering ways to stop a Washington nonprofit from sending any more registration forms to voters
<snip> "By their own estimate, officials with a Washington nonprofit have registered 200,000 voters in Florida the past eight years. This year, the same group, the Voter Participation Center, has mailed another 420,000 registration forms to residents hoping to enlist more. But state officials are considering ways to stop the center from sending any more registration forms, which the state calls confusing. “We have contacted the organization, expressed our very serious concern that they are misleading voters, offered to provide them the complaints sent to the department about their mailings, and asked that they make a concerted effort to improve their lists so that only eligible voters who aren’t registered are being contacted,” Chris Cate, a spokesman for the Secretary of State’s office said in an email to the Times. The objections come as the state has made other moves to block greater access to the ballot box." 1. The GOP voter suppression efforts continue

The GOP does not want people to vote and so they want to make it difficult for voters to register

7. They rule by plutocracy.
|
In my city they connected local government directly into a charitable organization which became a shell for illegal contacts between government and the right kind of people. This way they were able to throw up a smoke screen of confusion when people, who got screwed by their conspiracies, began to realize that their community leaders were selling them out.
THAT's how Republicans rule. By plutocracies. They want to connect with an elite group within the community who are essentially, corrupt. People who are willing to sell out their neighbors. If the Republicans get their way, the only ones who will have an American way of life are these crooked subgroups. |

it. Rick Scott needs to be in jail. I keep having to check to see what year this is. This is something I thought we had left behind. I hope voters recognize that this is wrong and make the Republicans pay for being so UN-AMERICAN!

4. Yes, we need to push that message continuously.

ReThugs are un-American because they try to prevent people from voting which is the most Democratic thing we can do in America. Voter suppression is indeed an evil practice...and heads need to go to jail!

10. Shameless, un-American,
|
and ultimately desperate. The GOP knows it's got nothing to offer, so it has to steal elections. The one bright spot is that the mainstream media is FINALLY covering this story. Took 'em long enough.

11. The confusion being complained about is bogus
|
Basically, the GOP is complaining that some people who are already registered may be getting forms to register again. So what. This happens all of the time.
