Know your Right-wing PAC: Concerned Women for America

This week I've seen the same television ad over and over with a female doctor making false statements about Obama's healthcare bill... more ads than I've seen for some candidates. She claims the bill is going to separate doctors from seeing their patients, deny patients care, and increase the deficit.

Who is running these ads? "Concerned Women for America Legislative Action Committee", which was formed by fundamentalist Beverly LaHaye. They are on 75 radio stations and they might have a prayer/action committee in your area. Talk about politicized religion!

According to rightwingwatch.org:

Concerned Women for America is "the nation's largest public policy women's organization…[CWA seeks] to protect traditional values that support the Biblical design of the family.".

CWA is anti-gay, anti-choice, anti-feminism and anti-sex education. Beverly LaHaye started CWA to respond to the advances of feminism after watching NOW founder Betty Friedan on television in 1978. CWA identifies feminism as "anti-god, anti-family." CWA identifies state-level Equal Rights Amendments (ERAs) as responsible for the breakdown of families, "The ERA proposes the elimination of our God-given roles as men and women, resulting in the redefinition — and eventual destruction — of family."

This group has enough money to buy television advertising that runs over and over 5 months ahead of the presidential election. Watching the ad someone might actually believe this was a concerned female doctor and not right wing baloney.

I wonder how does she think the bill will stop her from seeing her patients?
