IIRC, gasoline cost about $0.10 a gallon.

Or in Britain, Norway, or in fact, in MOST oil producing countries.
The Saudi Government subsidizes the oil sold for domestic consumption. If average Saudi's had to pay market price it would be harder for the royal family to stay in control

I remember 35 cents when I had my gokart as a kid. 1968 or so.
