Well, now, that was refreshing! We just had our monthly county Democrats luncheon. As it happens, tomorrow is our re-org meeting, and many of those at the luncheon were there to tout the re-org, especially some who are standing for local and state party offices. The happiest part is that many of them are young (early twenties to early thirties) fantastic! A couple of them worked in our Hillary field office, others worked on other campaigns. They are informed, energetic, eager to get to work and contagiously enthusiastic.
Some of our grayer heads are moving to other positions to make room for the incoming generation, but they will still be here for guidance through the rules, regs, howcomes, and becuzzes. We also have people ready to step up for elections that are more than a year away, others who have announced for city and county positions.
Our office, by the way, staffed entirely by volunteers, keeps regular business hours through the week; the public is welcome to drop in (and they do!). The irony here is that 99% of city and county positions are currently held by republicans, but they closed their office a year ago. Hmmm.
Anyway, after a couple of pretty grim months, todays gathering was decidedly refreshing. And tomorrow is looking to be likewise. Welcome back, enthusiasm, weve missed you!
