by Justin Baragona | 11:39 am, January 23rd, 2017
Rep. John Yarumth (D-KY) joined Mediaite columnist John Ziegler on Zieglers podcast over the weekend for a wide-ranging and eye-opening interview. During their conversation, the Democratic Regional Whip touched on a number of subjects, such as his thoughts on the Chelsea Manning commutation and how he views Barack Obamas time in the White House.
However, perhaps the most interesting part of the discussion revolved around newly inaugurated President Donald Trump and how both he and his colleagues across the aisle view him. After talking about White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer berating the press on crowd sizes at the inauguration, calling it alarming, Yarmuth said it made him concerned about Trumps mental health.
I have many questions about his sanity, absolutely, the ranking Democrat of the House Budget Committee said. Highlighting Trumps tweeting habits, noting the way he overreacts to everything, Yarmuth added that its not normal behavior.
After some more back-and-forth over the way the Trump team went out to defend these actions, including Kellyanne Conways already infamous alternative facts quote, they talked about how Republicans in Congress view Trump now that hes POTUS.

(4,987 posts)He is not one of them, a career politician. They will never accept him, and they will make sure he fails. Because if he does not, it looks bad for all career politicians.

(37,748 posts)I think the concern is more about his current words and actions rather than his past CV preventing him from working with Washington and for the people (e.g., Gary Johnson, Jesse Ventura, Bruce Rauner, John Corzine, Sonny Bono, Arnold Schwartzenegger, etc).

(4,987 posts)in entire country. The 6 counties surrounding DC are among the wealthiest in nation. DC is ruled by career politicians. The republicans basically are in line with Trump agenda. They simply can not let him succeed as one who never was elected to anything. Trumpy is also in favor of term limits. How many republicans are willing to give up power with term limited?

(12,540 posts)he is a normal type person and career politicians are only against him because he's not one of them. Do I have that right??
If so, I find that a peculiar belief, especially for a person with 4000+ posts on this forum

(4,987 posts)He won the election by acting. He will take on any personna which will work to get votes.
That is how he won the blue collar votes in rust belt.
Do not make the mistake of underestimating this person.
I would be more at ease if he was really nuts.
I am not at all sure. He had all those union chiefs in his
office yesterday. They all came out smiling. What's with that?
Sorry, I do not usually go with the crowd.
Because I like to look behind the curtain and discover reality. That is what happens when one is in his 70's.

(7,983 posts)would have been before the election.
These gutless wonders are a big reason why we're in this mess. If they'd really put "country first" they would have not only NOT endorsed him, they would have been out there actively campaigning against him. Failing that, they could have voted to not accept the electors decision to install this narcissistic nitwit into office.
Fuck these amoral nitwit hacks. I wouldn't trust them to walk my dog, much less lead my country.

(6,407 posts)It has been obvious there is something seriously wrong with him for many months. All these nitwits have done is protect themselves and sacrificed the country!!

(1,128 posts)Trump, if he gets very very very lucky, will be there for 8 years at best. They want to still be around after that.

(4,987 posts)Trumpy was a TV star for what 10+ years?
He knows acting and has experience in that field.
Trumpy diagnosed what voters in rust belt were looking for, better than other candidates.
Be wary of this guy.
Idiots do not become multi-Billionaires.
I do not know of any.

(2,573 posts)really a billionaire anyway? His business track record is really pitiful. He has screwed, conned and dodged his way to the top. His father helped start him off and bailed him out several times. He's gone bankrupt and writes off his debt and pays no taxes. He won't release his taxes so we don't know what's what. I don't believe he's a billionaire and I don't believe he gives to charity. What he is is a manipulator and exploiter....pathological liar narcissist...he's not an actor. He's been in the news for the last 40 years. I've been hearing about this asshole since I'm born.

(15,995 posts)after all, party is WAY more important than the little people.
The Party gives them money, which, as we all know, is the most important thing to them.
It also gives them the ability to harm those they deem less important than themselves, which makes them really, really happy.

(13,037 posts)Why are they voting for his nominations if they are so freaked out ???
They would follow and support the most vile human on earth if it kept them in power.

(34,845 posts)No one is calling the shots on this. No one is truly in control of the GOP. Trump happened because everyone else was asleep at the wheel. The GOP has no leader who could say, 'No. Not this.'

(3,153 posts)pence can then appoint his own new cabinet. trump isn't one of "them", they're going to bury him in scandals until he quits, gets impeached or has a heart attack. it's all part of their plan. low information voters will blame trump for everything that he destroys, and the republicans will be the heroes when they finally decide to step in and do something about him. pretty fuckin scary for what i imagine to be the best case scenario for what is about to happen to us.

(8,989 posts)ever remove drumph. They are sell outs.
Worse, they will allow him to attack the press / media untill they are re-elected.
At best they will weaken some of his more outrageous attempts to destroy his enemies.
But that is a very thin thread of hope.

(89,172 posts)So they should fucking say something but don't want backlash from the racists in the party that love trump.
