"God is a republican."

My favorite line of all time. And I just got to use my favorite retort. We were talking about what various religions require, and, of course, Xianity came up. Blah, blah, blah, Jesus, the state, morality, blah, blah, blah. I offered my 2 cents (truly, that's all it's worth), talked about how it appears, according to the Bible (Gensis, Psalms, Ecclesiastes) that our natural condition (i.e., post-lapsarian) is that we are to work from the sweat of our brow and be able to taste the fruits of our labors. I posited that the modern global economy, according to these very simple terms, seems to be, oh, I don't know, a bit, shall I say anti-Christish.

Blah, blah, blah, commie, blah, blah, "You know, God is a republican. Whose platform would he support? . . . hah, hah, hah, but no seriously, God IS a republican." To which I replied, and I always reply, "Well, that would explain the all starving back people in Africa."

Thank you, I'll be here all week.

Ridiculous and pathetic..

that the millions who claim to be "!**CHRISTIAN**!"
obviously know next to nothing about the tradition,
nor are even scripturally literate.

Yet they are so confident and cocky in their proclaimations...

God... a republican.
That makes Baby Jesus cry...

Or as I say: Put God in a box?
A pox on your house: that notion breaks the 1st commandment!
Repent!

Locked Him in His golden cage.
Made Him bend to your religion --
Him resurrected from the grave.
He is the god of nothing --
If that's all that you can see.
You are the god of everything --
He's inside you and me.
So lean upon Him gently
And don't call on Him to save you
From your social graces
And the sins you used to waive.

of the Abrahamic religions, wouldn't God be a monarchist?

To say God is a Republican (or Democrat, or Socialist, or Nationalist or anything else) is somewhat ridiculous.

A lot of Christian conservatives are badly and sadly deluded. Much like their notion that Jesus was a conservative. What Bible are they reading, pray tell? When I first read the Bible many, many years ago, the overwhelming impression I was left with was that Jesus was something of a hippie.

A warmongering racist who hates gays and is well-known for impregnating a 14 year-old girl.

Doesn't come much more republican than that.
