Trump will never be a real president. This is all a joke with tragic implications. Extreme tragic implications. The ONLY people excited are the very wealthy and the powerful as they're hoping for big tax cuts and de-regulation. Case in point, this morning James Craemer was talking about how de-regulating the financial industry should be the first step. He literally said, "let JPM go out and lend", "let Bank of America go out and lend" all without any regulations.
Things are going to get bad, really, really, really bad for all of us. As a nation, we may not recover from this. The best, and really only, thing to do is support each other as best as you can.

(7,770 posts)the Clinton's going to the inauguration. You don't hand power to a madman and smile and clap. If you do-you are a collaborator in the evils to come. And I might add-I understand denial-I just don't have it anymore. I think Democracy is way way over. This is just a place to pretend that we "can win it back". No we cannot. If we cannot verify elections and know that foreign influence-and domestic is not allowed. That is more denial.

(6,042 posts)Bearing witness is not acquiescing. The way I see it, the opposing candidate cannot hand over power, even if she got more votes. The president completing his term cannot hand over power. It is not his right.
What is operational at the inaugural is the Constitution of the United States of America.
Clinton did what she could to warn about Trump. In the debates she clearly and calmly presented the his role in the renewal of the White Supremacy movement, his character flaws and behaviors that make him unfit for the presidency, and the interference by a foreign power in our democratic election.
President Obama had the opportunity to call a press conference and formally apprise us, during the election cycle, of the Russian interference in our election. He chose to not do so. While my opinion is that he should have done this, it was his call to make, and I believe it was not a decision he made lightly. Since the election he has taken swift action to protect what he can from the destructive president-elect.
Neither Clinton or Obama are going away. Each will be involved in protecting and defending the constitution. The leadership in stopping Trump actually lies with us. Fortunately there are millions of us who understand what we are up against, and we are mostly moving in the same direction.
