The danger in this is he won’t be discerning when it comes to their recommendations and may not value the civilian role over the defense establishment in the way that all other presidents have.”

3. Yes. They only make movies about the few generals who were wildly successful.

Mostly war is hell. You don't get that when you come from a military family. I did. And War was service and sacred to my dad who was a tween when his father went off to WWII. My grandfather went to military college as a young man. There is delusion there for sure. Otherwise no young bodies would ever volunteer to fight.

He knew them to be reactionary (because of the very nature of the WW2 conflict) so he didn't allow them to corner him in October 1962.

That caution saved us from WW3.
