Does anyone have any faith that Trump's cabinet or Paul Ryan or Mitch McConnell can keep Trump in

check if he goes off the rails?

His cabinet seems to be as nutty as Trump. Ryan and McConnell seem to be simply selfish clueless bastards.

I'm worried as fuck about this, particularly the China situation is very disturbing.

Olbermann makes the key point that weakening our relationship with mainland China actually helps ... Russia.

And we need China to deal with North Korea's nuclear program.

Trump has already weakened us on human rights too.

Trump is not even in office yet and he's already made us less safe and made us less great.

FUCK.

The best case scenario we can hope for IMHO is that Democrats, particularly in the Senate, can at least minimize the oncoming damage, bog down Trump/GOP agenda and make them miserable, and can maneuver themselves back into a position of real power in 2018 and 2020. We went through some pretty miserable times between 2000-2008. Hopefully, there won't be such a prolonged stretch of Republican-induced misery this time around.

What we assume is good in the world don't even come into play n their world. We look for truth, thinking that is a good thing, and they just look for success regardless of what it takes. I don't get it, and don't even want to.
I just really resent that telling our kids to be kind and honest turns out to be a losing proposition and that we now refer to a "post truth world".

I think people in his cabinet will fear him so much that they will capitulate to his every whim. It is indeed the start of the error of the emperor with no clothes. No one close to him will have the balls to tell him that he's an idiot.

Trump is not going to put anyone in his cabinet that he won't be able to control either. Look who he picked for HUD Secretary. That'll tell you something.

a legitimate hope. It would be pretty hard for someone to have to do.

I am cautiously hopeful that groups like the ACLU, etc. are going to make a big enough threat to Trump that he at least pays some attention to them, but that will not give us much security.

Yes, down here in Texas, all I've heard for the last eight years is how "Obummer's" going to take all the guns away. I've about had my lifetime quota of dealing with idiots, and I am completely void of ANY sympathy for the people who voted for Trump. Those voters have put my way of life and my family at risk, and I'm not going to forget that for a very long time.

NOBODY, bottom-line, we are truly screwed, blued and tattooed, game-over, piss on the admiral and call in all the boats, we lost.

Hillary not only lost the election but she destroyed the Democratic party and the future for our county.

Everyone knew she was a badly flawed candidate but nobody stepped up since the fix was in and she had the nomination by default!

Biden left our country down when he declined to run, one of the worse decisions in the history of the USA, Munich comes to mind as comparable with perhaps the same level of catastrophic consequences.
