Romney: I would have done auto bailout better than Obama

As part of his swing through Michigan on Tuesday, Mitt Romney and his wife, Ann, did several sit-down interviews with local television stations. And, as usually is the case in the Wolverine State, the governor was pressed to explain his sometimes-tortured position on the bailout of the automobile industry.

"My policy had the same objective as the people in Detroit: I wanted to see the auto industry thrive and grow, and felt it needed a managed bankruptcy to be able to do so. It took the president a little longer to come around to that way of thinking," Romney told WOOD TV8, according to a portion of the interview the network previewed. "He ultimately took the auto industry through bankruptcy. They went through that process. And now, with support they have received from government and the American people, they have come back strong. That's a good thing. I would have done it faster than he did and saved us about $20 billion."

You and I, we're going to vote for President Obama.

Well I assume you will. I know I will.

So it's plain old stupid for the Obama campaign to play to me, or to waste a dime on a focus group to try to figure out how to talk to me. Don't you think?

So I have to assume they know how to talk to people who may yet vote for Mitt Romney, and the timing. They just came out with this immigration enforcement policy and threw the Romney campaign into fits. If they can do something like this every couple of weeks from now until the election, maybe that's the best way? We still have a long way to go. What happens now isn't going to make any difference outside of any cumulative effect.

As I said, David Axlerod (a very smart man) has to have a handle on this, IMHO. Let's have some faith.

And finally just take a look at Romney's approval. New numbers today show Obama 13 points ahead. That may be overly optimistic but I do think that gives you the general idea, and since the economy isn't really helping President Obama I think it's safe to say the Mitt Romney is doing a great job of doing himself in all by himself. So the future is bright, if only we can pick up a few more Senate seats and re-gain the House, which actually will be more difficult than an Obama re-election.

Romney is so full of shit, we may start using Romney as a clean word for the term "I am going to the bathroom to take a Romney".

and you said so. "Let Detroit go bankrupt," you said.

All bankruptcies are "managed" (that's what the process is for), but no company can do a Chapter 11 reorganization unless they can get loans, and nobody, including Bain Capital, was willing to provide private financing. The auto companies would have had to liquidate had the government not provided the equivalent of DIP financing.

Here's what you said, Mitt. Want to eat those words now?

We're dealing with a party that lives in its own bubble...creates its own "reality" and revises history to suit. These are people who now believe george w booooosh never existed and the economy crashed under President Obama. Any positive moves in the economy were caused by Raygun or anybody but a "democrat". Its too the point where short term memories are only allowed in the GOTB...forget what Mittens said twenty or ten or two years ago...or last week for that matter. Forget that it was 6 years of absolute rushpublican control that opened the flood gates to speculation and the "ownership society" that loaded down millions with greater and greater debt. It's all Obama's fault.

Rmoney knows that his inept and morally corrupt party only wants one thing...to win. They don't care what they say as sadly there are millions who want to believe what they say...

"managed bankruptcy" is code for somebody to make obscene amounts of money while a large number of people get screwed.

I sometimes hope these teabaggers get exactly what Fox News tells them to want.
