1. I think we're living through our democracy unraveling. The system relied on a lot of trust

and credibility, not that participants wanted to bring down the nation. And, there was no concept of outside hackers, cheats and the like.

3. We would have a full scale Constitutional crisis and perhaps civil war

Complete chaos, possibly the military being involved in a coup and over 200 years of democracy in shambles. It would, to maintain our republic with any sense of its traditions, require at least a constitutional convention to prevent it from ever happening again.
