Republicans want food stamps cut by $2 billion a year

Republicans want food stamps cut in farm bill By JIM ABRAMS | Published: June 19, 2012 Oklahoman WASHINGTON — The 1,000-page “farm bill” being debated in the Senate is somewhat of a misnomer. Four of every five dollars in it — roughly $80 billion a year — goes for grocery bills for one of every seven Americans through food stamps. Republicans say Congress could cut the cost $2 billion a year by just closing two loopholes that some states use to award benefits to people who otherwise might not qualify. “This is more than just a financial issue. It is a moral issue,” says Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., one of several Republicans pushing for cuts in spending for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as SNAP. The program has swelled from 28 million to 46 million participants, and its costs have doubled in the past four years. The recession and slow recovery have increased the number of people unemployed over the same period from 8 million to 12 million.

How do these people call themselves Christians. Protecting the wealthy by taking the food out of the mouths of those in need. When are people going to stand up for the poor? When you are Poor too? Then it will be too late.

They understand their twisted logic. Suffering is good for the soul. Dependency is immoral so we must correct it.

11. JPMorgan’s segment that makes food stamp debit cards made $5.47 billion in net revenue in 2010.
|
Maybe we could cut out the middleman (JP Morgan then outsourced the work to India!!- why does it cost 5 billion?),
... the government could probably administer food stamps cheaper than this and give the money to the people...to eat!! |

Get with the GOP program: If you're not in the top one percent, you're a lazy freeloader! Government spending is OK only if it goes directly into the pockets of the rich! |

I think that most unemployed people on food stamps would be glad to pay their fair share of taxes if you and the other simple minded blowhards in Congress had not sent all our jobs overseas with 'free' trade agreements. We had tariffs since the American revolution for a reason Dipshits. Our founders intended on Corporations paying 97% of the cost to run government. You keep cutting taxes on Corporations and we have a huge debt. Put two and two together you morons, the millions of poor unemployed people you helped create have no income to tax! /ranttoMitchMcConnell |

How do we get rid of Satan in their hearts because they are causing enormous suffering and even deaths of millions of people. This is unacceptable. We are allowing people who are sociopaths ruin the lives of millions, ruin the earth for everyone. They need to be diagnosed, treated and committed to psych wards, not allowed to run freely through the Halls of Congress, Wall Street and the Corporate media. |

Anyone identified as a sociopath should be punished with a lifetime of hardship, in addition to being forbidden from dating or otherwise entering a relationship. People need to be protected from these monsters at any cost and by any means necessary.
Sociopaths do not change and often become worse if in therapy. |

17. Food Stamp usage provides a "subsidy" to the State of Texas
|
Some years ago, Texas asked for a waiver on the amount of resources a person could have and be eligible for food stamps in Texas. Some would think this was to benefit more struggling families, but no - this was requested from the agricultural/cattle industry, which is the second largest industry in Texas. It turns out that for every five dollars used in food stamps, five or seven (can't remember which) is returned to the economy. So, the federal government raised the resource amount from $2000 to $5000. It will be interesting to see how Texas responds to this cut. Politics do make strange bed fellows.

21. First and foremost, let's start cutting the defense to the minimum
|
and remove "Department of Defense" from its cabinet position, replaced by Homeland Security.
We are not in the business of empire building. End all oil subsidies as they are making excess profits, and we continue to "subsidize" them with free money to the Republican coffers. End all coal subsidies. That alone should save us nearly $1 trillion PER year if this was done properly. But of course, the Republicans are in the fucking way and they need to sit in the fucking corner, permanently. |
