Romney Camp Vetting Marco Rubio After AllLast edited Tue Jun 19, 2012, 06:17 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1) Romney Camp Vetting Marco Rubio After All
In the midst of several reports earlier today that Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) wasn’t being vetted by Mitt Romney’s campaign for the vice presidential nod, the former Mass. Gov. today confirmed himself that the Florida Republican was indeed being “vetted” by his campaign, reports the Miami Herald: Romney just told reporters following his campaign that Rubio “is being vetted.”
So much for the anonymous folks who told ABC, The Washington Post and The New York Times the opposite. http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entries/romney-camp-vetting-marco-rubio-after-all What fun: Etch-A-Sketch with the whining Republican Senator who would come to the U.S. illegally. Romney Advisers Confirm Campaign Not Seriously Vetting Rubio
An adviser to Mitt Romney confirmed an earlier report that the campaign is not seriously vetting Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, the Washington Post reports. ABC News reported earlier Tuesday that the Romney campaign had not requested any documents from Rubio or asked him to fill out any questionnaires. An outside Romney adviser confirmed to the account to the Post, leaving on the table the idea that Rubio could be more seriously considered at a later date. A second adviser who works directly for the campaign also confirmed to the Post that the campaign had only conducted a preliminary review of Rubio. Before the Post’s confirmation, Republican pundit and Rubio ally Ana Navarro suggested the leak came from the Romney campaign and told BuzzFeed it was a bad move: “The bottom line is someone in Romney campaign spoke out of turn,” she said. “Whether it’s true or false, who knows. But it sure was dumb. It’s going take ‘em off their messaging for the day/bus tour and they’re gonna have to do some damage control. They unnecessarily dissed a very popular figure of the conservative base and the most prominent Hispanic Republican. Romney has nothing to gain from this.”
http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entries/romney-advisers-confirm-campaign-not-seriously-vetting-rubio Very Weird
Josh Marshall I’m not sure how the Romney camp let this happen. But they’ve now apparently confirmed the leak that Marco Rubio is not being considered for Romney’s veep. It doesn’t terribly surprise me that the Romney camp doesn’t think Rubio’s a good bet. But how you let that become public is a totally different story. Portman and Pawlenty are apparently getting a close look. http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/2012/06/very_weird_1.php Apt description of Romney and his campaign: "very weird."

2. IIRC, an Etch-a-Sketch can be worn out.

I remember overused Etch-a-Sketches from my childhood. At some point, they just stop working. The stuff inside no longer sticks to the screen.

4. No shit. I've been saying that it will be Mittens/Rubio since election day 2010.

I wavered when his lie about his parents surfaced. That didn't last long.
Rubio is the solution for the 'Latino problem.' Some Latinos will vote for them, just because there's a Latino on the ticket. Sorry, it's true. |
