Elizabeth Warren should debate an empty chair

but Scotty is bluffing. He will show. And if he doesn't puke on the carpet or say something racist, everyone will say he held his own or whatever. Different standards for Repugs. Warren will kill in the debate.

Brown hasn't refused to debate Warren; in fact, there are several debates scheduled. He's just (stupidly) refused to participate in a debate sponsored by a group (the Kennedy Institute) on whose board Vicki Kennedy sits unless Kennedy pledges not to endorse Warren (which is a ridiculous demand for Brown to make). Its highly unlikely (actually absolutely certain) that the Kennedy Institute isn't going to sponsor a "debate" with just Warren in attendance, so the only way that Warren could hold a debate with an empty chair is for her to find another location to hold a debate to which she doesn't invite Brown. That would be a really bad idea.

So, you're right it won't work. And it never was a good idea.

She should do something along the lines of Bernie Sanders' amazing, wonderful filibuster...lay out what is happening to America under these people and make her case in a devastating way.

"I would like to hear Senator Brown's opinion on whether Wall Street has an undue amount of influence upon our politics in general and on some politicians in particular. Of course, if for some reason he has no opinion on the matter, we can just move on to the next topic."

...so debating an empty chair seems pretty appropriate.
