GOP - Papers Please Or You Don't Vote - National Voter ID Before NovemberLast edited Tue Jun 19, 2012, 03:54 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1)
According to Joe Walsh of Illinois it will be a good idea to pass a "national voter integrity act" before the November election. Every voter will have to have a government issued ID to vote anywhere in the US. Voter fraud is an actual epidemic right now and must be addressed immediately I guess.
Wasn't it the GOP that was against a "national ID" all these years? This law would effectively mean a national ID. I swear we are looking more like Germany in the early 1930's every day if the GOP gets its ways. What next tatooing gays, poor people, the unemployed, etc. Will we survive this election? 2. Maybe we'll have to wear a big "D" when we go to vote?
|
Will women have to wear a big "S" if they use BC or have had an abortion?

15. OKeeee... I guess I don't think about women along those lines.
|
Both genders as a whole are pretty 'slutty', that's why there are so many of us.
That's what happens when I see men and women as two parts of a whole, each sharing much(all?) of the others basic characteristics. We are of the same species, animals, hard wired for survival after all. I don't see women liking sex as any different than men liking sex. |

4. Sorry but no
|
Just logistically speaking, that is close to an impossibility. I mean, technically probable but just think about what creating a National ID actually needs
1 - Creating a database that compiles multi state information, providing citizenship information. - Anywhere from 3-9 months (more likely than not more) 2 - Design of the actual card (can be done as 1 is being created, anywhere from 1-3 months or of course more) 3 - Programming what goes in to the card particularly what happens on the magnetic strip(or whatever else to cut down on forgeries)(another 1-3 months which can always balloon to more) 4 - A multi-state ad campaign detailing the need for this and how to do it. (This is actually probably fast) 5 - Setting up places to do this, meaning, you can't just go to the DMV to do this, it is finding properties. (This will take a while) 6 - Training workers and hiring new people to provide this service. There is not enough time for this crap. Guy is an idiot for even thinking about it on an Election year. To do something like this, it is best to have 2-3 years for the set up, and then implementation on the 4th year or more. Since not everyone will be able to get it quickly due to varying reasons. |

7. From Their Point Of View Logistics Is Irrelevant
|
Last edited Tue Jun 19, 2012, 04:47 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1) If they had the power to pass it right now they would. Logistics is irrelevant. It is about taking voting rights away. You cannot put anything past these fools really. My bet is that they would pass it and say tough luck. Then they would just let Republicans without ID vote anyway while they stopped potential Democrats . They would dare the rest of us to stop them.

9. I'm not even sure this would be constitutional.......
|
In most cases the states determine eligibility to vote unless otherwise provided for in the U.S. Constitution.
The 24th Amendments prohibits a requirement by the federal or state governments to pay a poll or other tax. The 26th Amendment provides for voting at the age of 18 or older that specifically prohibits the federal government or state governments from passing any voting law with respect to age that is contrary. So I don't even think this can be done without a Constitutional amendment. |

11. I Am Not Sure That Would Stop Them.
|
I am not sure that would stop them because the GOP believes it is above the law or Constitution as long as they get what they want.

12. Well, they might still proceed with taking a vote on it but.....
|
It would never get past the Senate and even if it did, Obama would veto it and the pukes don't have a 2/3 majority to override his veto.
Further it would be immediately challenged in court and, given the nature of the potential harm, I would expect a U.S. District Court judge to immediately issue an injunction preventing the enforcement or implementation of the law pending resolution of the legal challenge. It is window-dressing for their voter purge activities. They know the Democrats benefit when more people vote. So if they can suppress the vote it is better for them. Further the approach they are taking to "voter integrity" is specifically harmful to students, the elderly and the infirm, often seen as Democratic demographics. |
