Suppose that, instead of the clown circus that is the GOP these days, they had a halfway sensible candidate who seems to be destined to be their nominee. Further suppose that some Hollywood screenwriter came up with a script that portrays the GOP field exactly as it has been over the past year or so, and took it around to te studios to try to get a movie made of it. What would happen?

'I think it's got potential. We'll be in touch. Let's do lunch sometime'

Newt Gingrich is a tough one. Is Brian Dennehey still alive?
Pizza Guy as himself.
Denzel was born to play Herman Cain. I think I'd have Glenn Close as Bachmann and (sit down for this one) Robin Williams as Newt.

(53,998 posts)Or are you talking about Alan Alda from the last season of West Wing? Anyway, the problem with this movie is the utter lack of plausible antagonists. Perry & Romney are flat stereotypes, Bachmann is a bad Palin rip off, and Gingrich is a villain lacking in any moral complexity--remember that all the best movie villains have to at least believe they're doing the right thing in order to be plausible.
If I were a Republican and I read this script, I'd be insulted by Hollywood's pathological hatred of Republicans as revealed by this movie's ugly, unsympathetic type casting. I mean, seriously, a Republican front runner who advocates repealing child labor laws and openly touts family values despite being twice divorced? Give me a break!
