The GOP IS Trump when it comes to elections results. The way they have obstructed and attacked Obama shows they do not respect the will of the people either. And their refusal to consider Supreme Court nominee even further shows their contempt of elections if ANYONE but their candidate is in office.
ALL Democrats at any level is not legitimate for them. They refuse to negotiate with any Democrat who holds office whether it is federal, state, county, municipal et al. ONLY GOP representatives have the right to govern. Yet they do not even do that job.

(9,426 posts)The gop does not like intelligent people, they prefer them to be like Dubya or tRump. Alone came President Obama, who was EVERYTHING they fear. Intelligent, handsome, patient LOVED by people of all colors. Yuck, how could HE win the election - TWICE? Lumpy little Johnny McCain is still sulking like a child. I hope the people of Arizona wise up and hand his flabby little ass to him.

(24,406 posts)McCain's comments the other day also showed a serious contempt for our democratic process. Even when faced with a legitimate question of legitimacy like the 2000 election outcome, Democrats didn't tell Bush to shove it and refuse to work with him to keep our government functional.

(612 posts)The only difference I see is that Trump made his rejection of the people's will explicit and in a public forum. Ordinarily, the Republicans simply operate upon their implicit agreement that they will not cooperate with Democrats. They are reluctant to admit what they're doing because, in general, the American people want their leaders to work together for the common good. Trump is so self-absorbed that he is incapable of acting in the interests of anyone except himself.
