Yeah, that's what this person said. And the best part? He continued with: "Because of this, Romney is seen as a traitor to his class."
I'm not making that up.
Now, granted, some very wealthy people, including some Wall Streeters, and some of whom have Ivy League degrees, are Democrats. But I think this particular right-wing myth/half-truth/lie is based on the large amount of money that Wall Street people have given to Democrats in recent years.
Well, of course they've given the Democrats money, as well as the Republicans! While people on Wall Street (and other rich people, for that matter) do want lower taxes, less regulation, and "freer" markets, which makes them, on average, more inclined to support Republicans, they aren't (generally) stupid. They hedge their bets between the two parties, ensuring that they get protection once the Republican or Democrat gets elected. And that's what happens, unfortunately.
But the aforementioned right-winger who said "Romney is seen as a traitor to his class" is just flat out wrong on so many levels. Romney, the darling of Forbes magazine! Romney, who has actually raised more money from wealthy donors so far than Obama! Romney, who, inconsistent with his stances on many different issues, is quite consistent on one thing: His support for all things corporate.
It's downright insulting to use the legacy of the real "traitor to his class" (Franklin Roosevelt) as a bludgeon against Democrats in the modern day, for the pursuit of the most vile, extreme right-wing economic goals.

(6,539 posts)You can only laugh at such silliness. As DU has taught us, there are even Democrats in Red states (and a lot of Republicans in blue states.) It really shows the closed-mindedness of this right-winger. Why would you judge someone based on the fact he pals around with Ivy Leaguers?
I guess someone has to put the bullshit in the GOP.

Puzzling view of the world. Mostly poor people, union members and teachers and nurses are Democrats.
I assure you that most of the moguls and corporate CEOs are Republicans and have no patience for Democrats. Have him look at the lists of donors to people like John Boehner. It's all on-line.
Obama received support from Wall Street in 2008 when they were in trouble, knew he was going to win and were courting his favor. I don't think they support him so much any more. Reality bites. And reality demands that a Democratic president answer to his voters -- who are mostly working people.

For example is Romney suggesting tax increases on the super-rich?
