I just think that someone needs to propose a law that women Representatives and Senators be paid less than their male counterparts. Perhaps, although I'm certainly not holding my breath on this, then those women who voted against the equal pay act would understand what they are actually voting for.

understand. I'm not being argumentative, and this could be a good discussion face-to-face, not with the delay involved in this sort of posting.

Anyway, it would be interesting to discuss why I think they don't understand, and why you believe that they do, and just don't care. I will throw out, if you care to respond, if there is even a meaningful difference here -- not in our two different takes on this, but if in the end, whether they don't understand, or do and just don't care, ultimately matters since the result looks to be the same in either case.

I actually appreciate your response, because my response here is helping me to think this through just a little more.
