Mitt ducks Wawa bus tour stop where 200 anti-Romney protestors (and Rendell) had ambushed himLast edited Sat Jun 16, 2012, 07:51 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1)
QUAKERTOWN, Pa. -
Hundreds of supporters and protestors were waiting to greet presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney at a Quakertown Wawa Saturday, but they were left waiting as the former Massachusetts governor made a last-minute switch to stop at a different Wawa miles away. Obama supporters from Philadelphia traveled by bus to join other protestors at the Wawa convenience store where former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, a Democrat, addressed the crowd from a vacant lot across the street and criticized Romney. A large crowd of Romney supporters were also at the store to get a chance to meet the man they hope to see unseat President Barack Obama in the upcoming November election. They were, however, left waiting. A person with the Romney campaign said a decision was made to avoid the protest and Rendell and greet a smaller crowd of supporters at a Wawa a few miles away. Romney shook hands and spoke to people there, and also had the chance to order a meatball sandwich. read: http://www.myfoxphilly.com/story/18806410/romney-avoids-democratic-protest-in-campaign-tour Romney was scheduled to arrive at the Wawa at 12:40 p.m. Eyewitnesses said at least some of the anti-Romney demonstrators, led by former Governor Ed Rendell, had arrived on a bus. A large cluster of demonstrators, bearing signs and placards and shouting "hey, ho, Mitt Romney's got to go" thronged the Wawa parking area. Rendell himself and a second contingent of several dozen people were visible in a gravel lot some distance from the Wawa. Rendell addressed that group from a lectern for several minutes. They then walked down the road to join the group near the Wawa. Fragments of each group confronted each other. "We are the 99 percent," shouted the anti-Romney protesters. "USA, USA, we're the 100 percent," replied Romney's supporters. read/watch: http://pottstown.patch.com/articles/demonstrators-crash-romney-appearance

They are everywhere in NJ and PA. When I lived in NJ there was one about every half mile.

13. It's the local version of a 711-type stores
|
that originates out of an area in Delaware County PA just outside of the city with that name. They are a PA company that is graciously sponsoring our annual 4th of July festivities here in Philly!
I heard this story on the radio this afternoon and the Rmoney staff claimed they "changed venues" at the last minute "due to security concerns". What? Rendell? Yeah, I've seen him do belly-flops in city pools back when he was mayor so I suppose that could be it! |

24. WAWA is an upscale 7-11
|
200% cleaner than 7-11,
with many more options for eatable fast food (most foods are custom made to order, not pre-feb) and they have terrific coffee, etc. BUT apparently Mitt RMoney has sullied MY local WAWA... now I hafta call out the exorcists and have them purify it. The thought of RMoney in my WAWA makes me ill... |

4. Well, this is a clear demonstration of how he would see a presidency--
|
he will not consider all of the citizens of the country nor will he address everyone's concerns. Whatever your criticisms of President Obama are, he does try to be a president to all and he doesn't duck tough venues.

And there are certainly way too many Canada geese around these parts.

Could a small group of cars simply follow the bus & then make a call when the bus makes it's new stop. Then they could pack & move to the new location. I've thought about the arguments against this.
Best excuse: It would be an inconvenience. |

R/money punked out it is just that simple. No announcement, no apology, nothing but a punk no show. The man clearly has no respect for the American voter. Also how can we trust this punk with national security when he is afraid of the voters. |

WaWa is a goofey name but a great for fuel and food. Real good deli sandwiches and good coffee.
The place is always clean. They must pay fair because it is not just a bunch of kids working there. The best thing is they have free ATM machines. While everyone else in Pa. charges to use the ATMs WaWa is free. They are my second bank. On the down side it looks like they support R/money. What to do, what to do. |
