I asked this question to Milwaukee County locals after seeing him address the RNC and didn't get an answer. After seeing him attack the Democratic party several times in interviews in the wake of the Milwaukee riots, I've got to ask again.
How is this idiot allowed get away with shit like this and remain within the party?

(46,301 posts)We don't have "purges" like the GOP does.
Clarke will destroy himself, just give him time.

(46,301 posts)My guess is, he uses the right "code words" to pander to the "law and order" crowd.
And even in Milwaukee, that appeal can work among even among blacks.
Just look at Joe Arpaio.
He's incompetent, arrogant, grandstanding, stupid and deceptive.
Yet he never lost an election.

(1,683 posts)If the party doesn't like it, they can find a primary opponent to run against you. If you beat the party-selected opponent in the primary, you get to run as a D in the general election. D voters then get to (1) vote for you, (2) vote R, (3) write-in, or (4) stay home. You win the general, you are an elected D.

(467 posts)he got the RW vote and the African-American vote. Especially the latter as he ran against a Milwaukee city police officer, who are not that well liked as you may have heard lately.
