McCain Says Obama Snubbed Him After 2008 ElectionSen. John McCain (R-AZ) told The Hill that President Barack Obama or his cohorts never made a genuine effort to reach out to him in the wake of the 2008 presidential election.
Lets get real here, McCain said. There was never any outreach from President Obama or anyone in his administration to me.

The goddamn arrogance of this man! McCain's was a despicable campaign which set the stage for Romney's dog-bugle strategy against President Obama today. Now we've got your racist spawns working overtime to smear this President out of office. You should have apologized and crawled under a rock when Americans put you and your demagogue queen in your places, but it looks like you wanted your ass kissed instead. Fuck off and fuck you to anything associated with you.

(24,396 posts)Obama did nothing to him other than beat him electorally on Election Day 2008. If anything, McCain should have been gracious in defeat (like he acted on Election Night 2008) and work with President Obama to get things done, particularly in regards to the economy. AFAIK all he did was sign on to the GOP's grand obstructionist strategy- and he had to run even further to the right to keep his seat in 2010, which meant more Obama-bashing and obstructionism.
Sorry, Johnny, no dice.

(24,396 posts)I don't quite remember Obama "snubbing" McCain though. I'm sure Obama would have worked with him if he was genuinely interested in it. The problem is that McCain and most other Republicans seem to think that "working with them" means everybody else doing things THEIR WAY. Recently nominated teabagger Mourdock here in Indiana defined bipartisanship as the Democrats adopting the Republican position on everything, which is pretty much what most Republicans seem to agree with.

"We'll have to end old ways of doing business," he said. "We'll have to take on entrenched special interests. We'll have to break bad habits."
He was joined on stage for his announcement by his former presidential rival, Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona. Their appearance at a fiscal-discipline event was notable because of its timing. Just this week, McCain was on the Senate floor railing against Obama for going along with a spending bill packed with lawmakers' pet projects. "So much for the promise of change," McCain said then. He made no comments with Obama Wednesday ...

(118,236 posts)It sounded like a pretty sexy story a clash of the titans between President Barack Obama and Republican Senator John McCain in the big White House meeting yesterday on Afghanistan ...
McCain has made no secret of what he feels is an urgent need to increase U.S. troops in Afghanistan, and he repeated that appeal in the meeting, saying he hopes the president will make his decision soon and not in a leisurely fashion, according to McCain spokeswoman Brooke Buchanan.
News accounts of the exchange behind closed doors have said Obama responded curtly that he was not acting in a leisurely fashion, but McCain, as relayed by Buchanan, said Obama made the comment in his wrapup remarks and that he in no way sounded irritated.
Buchanan told us that McCain is astonished that this has been blown up into a big hullabaloo and that the senator appreciated that Obama had the entire congressional leadership over to the White House to discuss Afghanistan ...

Senator John McCain took his seat at the White House on Monday and listened to a briefing from one of his economic advisers. The only hitch is Mr. McCain was sitting in the sixth row, not on stage, and the adviser was now working for President Obama.
Lets just say this was not quite how Mr. McCain quite imagined his time in the White House would look like. But there he was, making his first visit since Mr. Obama took over management last month, joining other lawmakers for the new presidents fiscal responsibility summit ...
I want to see if, John, youve got some thoughts, Mr. Obama said.
Mr. McCain stood and thanked him for holding the summit. I think it was a fruitful discussion, he said ...

(21,925 posts)Even the press has snubbed him. He used to be the darling of the press back in the days when he seemed independent and his take on an issue was considered relevant. But McCain showed he's no maverick but a typical GOP lock-stepper. No one want his opinion anymore and it's killing him. And he's clearly got jealousy issues when it comes to Obama that go beyond mere partisan opposition.

Is that why you are always on the Senate floor trying to call our President incompetent in this or that?
Why don't you just retire - you old jerk???
You are my Senator and not once have you ever represented me, even tho I have called your office, sent emails.... nothing.
The only thing you ever did well is Meghan.
ugh...... we should have had him in 2010 but the Dems went with the 'safe' candidate who was the worst candidate I ever saw.
Sorry from Arizona.
