The perfect example of this phenomenon can be found in former Arizona Governor Jan Brewer, who appeared on CNNs State of the Union this morning for a panel discussion about presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump, who Brewer has endorsed. The CNN host, Jake Tapper, brought up comments recently made by President Obama. The President remarked at a fundraiser for Jay Inslee, the Governor of Washington:...
Obama just always comes tearing after Republicans constantly, calling names and calling people bigots and racists. And thats their big comeback, you know. And its absolutely ridiculous. To see a president speak like that is offensive....
We need to discuss policy. With President Obama and Hillary Clinton, every time you disagree with them, it doesnt matter which subject it is, youre a bigot or youre a racist!

(660 posts)Trump has a right to weigh in on this kind of thing. I suspect that he might be happy with the label bigot.

(28,498 posts)This drawn-out death of Joseph R. Wood III in Arizona prompted the governor to order a review and drew renewed criticism of lethal injection, the main method of execution in the United States, just months after a high-profile botched execution in Oklahoma.
Ive witnessed a number of executions before and Ive never seen anything like this, Dale Baich, one of Woods attorneys, told The Washington Post in a phone call. Nor has an execution that I observed taken this long.

(14,563 posts)is it for someone in the supposed god damned media to ask this one simple question.
Governor Brewer, for the record, can you provide one instance where President Obama or Hillary Clinton has called republicans bigots or racists?
I mean, it is that god damned simple, and it is that god damned important, because not calling that fucking shit out legitimizes it. Not calling it out implies that they actually said these words, and when these types of statements repeatedly are not challenged, it becomes reality to 1) jackass conservatives 2) the lazy as morons who don't pay attention and draw the assumption that because the media does not challenge these things they do in fact happen.
Because 1 and 2 at up to more than 50% of the voting public more often than not.
