Just came back from Jacksonville, NC

Jacksonville, NC is home to 2 Marine bases. Camp Lejeune and New River MCAS.

I've noticed that outside of the bases there is an economic boom going on in the housing industry. New housing developements going up everywhere. There's also a boom in the commercial construction business with new restaurants and businesses popping up alongside the new housing developements.

Is this where we are in America? A private economy reliant on military spending?

but not everywhere either.

San Diego is home to two LARGE Navy bases and a Marine Corp Base... and even Pendleton, outside the base, is not that hot. So even that is not working as well as it used to.

right now. Unfortunately. Soon there'll be no wild coast lands or wetlands. Just shitty little houses and a CVS pharmacy on every corner.

Soon there will be ONLY wild coast and wetlands as the melting polar ice caps will dump more water into the world's oceans, thus flooding current coastlines.

I live in Knoxville, on the other side of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. I can't wait until I have ocean-front property.

(Oh and on for that last sentence).

4. If it wasn't for the military, Yuma AZ would close down

Local unemployment is at 28% per my son's mother-in-law, without the Government Proving Ground it would be much higher.

5. Locally they closed a base with 5000 jobs and $ 350 million payroll.

Probably cost the local economy 20,000 jobs.

Base Realignment And Closing is going on, so some are winning and others losing.
