Second EU Referendum Petition Crashes Government Website As Remain Supporters Reject Brexit

A petition for the government to hold a second referendum on Brexit has proved so popular it temporarily crashed the parliament website.

Within just hours of the historic Leave vote, it had already gained 60,000 signatures and counting.

The petition states:

EU Referendum Rules triggering a 2nd EU Referendum

We the undersigned call upon HM Government to implement a rule that if the remain or leave vote is less than 60% based a turnout less than 75% there should be another referendum.


For those who voted Remain, the mood is one of despair...

...it seems to me that the majority of electors chose to leave the EU. In another election, the majority might choose to stay. Still later, a majority might choose to leave yet again. If the EU is a supranational institution and it exists as a function of the democratic choice of its constituent members, it might make sense to have a means to fast track inward and outward movement from the organization.

until yesterday the Remain side was saying "no second referendum, no way, no how..."
