In news cycle where we have the largest mass shooting in U.S. history, he is dominating the headlines. Some of you may say its bad press, but you underestimate how many bigots you have in this country, and how many people are easily scared by their shadow. His shit is resounding with probably more people than not. Any one disgusted by his current behavior would already have being against Trump. He is now just deepening his support and gaining a few.
This is his path to victory. This guy is master manipulator of media. Every couple of weeks he purposely and calculating gives something absurd to the media and they can't help but to give him millions of free publicity.

(42,770 posts)stilted teleprompter speech - seems he was more interested in getting the point across that HE TOLD US than anything else. The moment of silence was so unbelievable - almost laughable if the whole thing wasn't so incredibly sad and horrible.

(2,188 posts)You said "Immigration would not have prevented him from being an American Citizen." Immigration would have prevented his father from coming here, and without him here how does the son get here?

(30,058 posts)Did not immigrate, shutting down immigration would not have stopped this guy from being a citizen. Understand I said shutting down, not revoking past immigration. Yes I am correct.

(115,587 posts)I don't think so. Trump will keep stepping on his dick and only the stupid people won't care. It's true that there are a lot of stupid people in this country but most of the stupid people who like Trump are old white men. Consider that he is loathed by women, Latinos, most other PoC, Muslims, most immigrants, and LGBT people. There aren't enough angry old white guys to win the GE for him.

Cool. But it would make me feel a hell of a lot better if you were to share your results here.
Be sure to add gun nuts, people who jump out of their skin at the very mention of "ISIS," and one-time "Apprentice" fans.
Oh, and also the people who wouldn't vote for a(nother) Clinton if their lives depended on it.
To be sure, there's bound to be some overlap, but I think that covers it.
We're fucked, either way.

(42,770 posts)that Obama's speech was undoubtedly reverent - but WTH - couldn't he have come up with some kind of action plan? Even if Congress shot it down. I mean, why couldn't he have at least said - "I am immediately gathering all the security experts to determine what we can do to help protect our homeland. And, I will subsequently be sending legislation for emergency funding."
People want some kind of action. And, if the only plan is Trump's half-witted, ill-planned, bigoted ideas....he may move up - like a plan is better than no plan.

(42,770 posts)was brilliant today. And, wish he could be prez for my lifetime.
But, just wish he would suggest some kind of action. People everywhere are thinking yikes - is there nothing we can do?
A salvo such as a call for increased money/manpower to prevent would do a lot. Anything new to show we can do something positive to prevent the shit storm

(9,944 posts)... I think many Trump supporters were embarrassed and wish he'd practiced that speech, today. He seemed overtired or sick. He says he doesn't drink, or I would have thought that he might have had a few... it was probably better to cancel the Clinton attack, though, which would seem out of place. Do agree that his "base" likes stuff like the Muslim ban. Hillary was much stronger... she sounded coherent and went for Independent and Republican voters. I think she hurt him today.

Anyone who fills that gap is going to win.
It's easy for a secure politician to say 'we will not give into fear or hate'. It's another to be the lambs being slaughtered anytime some is becoming radicalized.
So yes, people I work with who are liberal on health care, taxes, social programs, are sick of being sheep that are being slaughtered by Islamic radicals and they are voting trump.

(4,711 posts)He's going to act like it does, his supporters are going to act like it does, and some people in the middle are going to be swayed. In the meantime Clinton will fulfill the classic "gun-grabber" role for the Republicans to rail against, and people who are feeling scared and vulnerable in the wake of this horror are going to ask why they should give up a ready means of self-defense. I repeat, the optics are bad. Terrible even.

(18,186 posts)fuck your "analysis."
Americans are not going to be fooled like they were 16 years ago. We don't want a bunch of new wars, and hotheaded Trump can't keep us out of them.
His appeal is to the backwash, the racists, the mouthbreathers and the very low intellect. I mean, he is the sixth grade dropout's DREAMBOAT.
The undecideds and moderates win elections, and there is no way in hell any moderates are going to vote for that shit show spewing all of his ugliness.
But nice try there. Thanks so much for playing, and we all really do appreciate your concern. It might, however, be better utilized if you go out there and convince some of the backwash that maybe Trump isn't such a great idea. For their own sense of pride, not because he has a snowball's chance in hell of winning.
Coming here to play games is so Trump-like and time-wasting.
Have a nice night on r/The_Donald!
