Omaha Steve had a hand in city council reversing itself! (costs $50,000 more for the 6 month delay)

Council votes to clear riverfront homes

Nineteen years ago the odds would have been long against Iske Place and Elbow Bend residents cheering a decision to demolish their homes.

That changed May 29 when residents of the riverfront communities burst into spontaneous applause after the Bellevue City Council voted 5-0 to buy their homes, demolish them and restore the area to wilderness.

The difference was three floods in almost 20 years.

In 1993, 1996 and again in 2011, residents endured floods that chased them from their homes.

FULL story at link.

Remember the 10,000 flyers I distributed on March 31st and the following week?

And there is a controversy brewing in Eastern NE politics about a primary race winner. Details in a few weeks.

It's even more impressive that you articulated an issue of importance to the community and then carried through on the promise in a timely manner. If more politicians would perform on their campaign promises instead of the old change of heart once they get elected people would have a higher regard for government at all levels.

I can only hope that you will use the experience to someday seek statewide or even higher office. Sounds to me like you are on the way to bigger and better things.

Congrats!!

Here is one: Magnum Canis Abilene, KS

I am deeply, deeply concerned that an avowed Socialist is running for Bellevue City Council. Steve Dawes' recent advocacy of the takeover of Bellevue's gas service by the government, and his desire to squander City money buying flood-damaged riverfront property (putting money in the pockets of his corrupt union cronies), shows all of us that Steve Dawes is not good for Bellevue.
