...but my read is that cancelling out on the Dayton debate isn't one of them.

His supporters aren't going to learn anything new from a debate. And by the time HRC is finished spending money here, nobody is going to vote for him and not know what they're getting. From a branding point of view, just like HRC is doing in California...the leaders never want to agree to a debate. A decision on his part says "I don't need this to win" and his tribe will cheer.

He has nothing to gain and lots to lose with a direct side by side comparison.

Its his worst forum.

I too think he'll make them single person charity events where he gets to bloviate unimpeded.

As long as there were more than two persons involved in the debate (as with the Republican debates) Trump can play the others off one another, and run the clock out while he runs his mouth. When there's only one other person on the stage, deflection is much harder. If an actual moderator slips in (like Candy Crowley did in one of the Obama/Romney debates) to fact check the candidates in real time, Trump doesn't stand a chance and he knows it.

No reason for him not to debate.

Now, if he gets his ass handed to him in the first two or three, he might reconsider.
