ISIS Has Hit List of Western Muslim Leaders

The latest issue (number 14) of the Islamic State’s propaganda magazine, Dabiq, published April 13, contains a hitlist of Muslim leaders in the West, specifically naming 21. A 22nd (Nihad Awad of the Muslim Brotherhood-linked Council on American Islamic Relations) is pictured, but not named.

The list of leaders is very diverse and includes several who are linked to Islamist groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood, despite the fact that the Islamic State’s ideology is directly descended from that of the Muslim Brotherhood. Indeed the theme of the issue, entitled The Murtadd Brotherhood, is focused on the illegitimacy of the Muslim Brotherhood.

“One must either take the journey to dār al-Islām, joining the ranks of the mujāhidīn therein, or wage jihād by himself with the resources available to him (knives, guns, explosives, etc.) to kill the cru­saders and other disbelievers and apostates, including the imāms of kufr, to make an example of them, as all of them are valid – rather, obligatory – targets ac­cording to the Sharī’ah, except for those who openly repent from kufr before they are apprehended.”

The list shows the extent of the Islamic State’s adherence to the doctrine of takfir, which enables them to brand any Muslim who does not submit to their authority and hold by their interpretation of Islam a heretic worthy of death.

WASHINGTON, April 13 (UPI) -- A new issue of the Islamic State's official journal, published online Wednesday, makes explicit new death threats against two Muslim American public servants -- one of whom is an aide to Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

The magazine Dabiq targets Huma Abedin, a longtime aide of Clinton's, and Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison, who in 2006 became the first Muslim elected to U.S. Congress.

In the magazine, the militant group, also known as ISIS and Daesh, classifies both individuals as "overt crusaders" and "apostates," and states that they should be killed.

2. Local TV report: Rep. Ellison Responds To Threat In ISIS Propaganda

The first Muslim elected to Congress, Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison, had strong words Wednesday for ISIS after the terror group threatened him and other Muslims in western politics with torture and death.

Using an acronym for the jihadist group based on the Arabic original, the Democratic congressman called the Islamic State a collection of liars, murderers, torturers, and rapists.

“The fact that I’m on Daesh’s bad side means I am fighting for things like justice, tolerance, and a more inclusive world,” Ellison said in a statement.

“Global terrorism is something affecting everyone,” said Jaylani Hussein, executive director of Council on American-Islamic Relations Minnesota. The National Director of CAIR, also from Minnesota, was not named but was pictured. Hussein calls the two “prominent figures of the American Muslim population.”

As often happens, when one far-right group (ISIS' "Our religion is better than yours&quot goes up against another far-right group (republican Islamophobes' "No. Our religion is better than yours&quot , who gets targeted? Those "fighting for things like justice, tolerance, and a more inclusive world".

The fact that a Muslim congressman has endorsed a Jewish presidential candidate must make heads spin in ISIS-land.
