(8,267 posts)I was such a geek child in school. I read all the time, and the only sport at which I excelled was tetherball. I was last chosen and was told in no uncertain terms how unwanted and incapable was I.
Valentine's Day was grueling. I seldom got more than three or four "pity" valentines--certainly NOT the plethora of beautiful cards showered upon my peers. I gave all my classmates cards or candy hearts (whichever my Mom provided), but I couldn't bear the furtive, guilty looks on the faces of those who didn't get me a valentine, so I soon stopped participating in that ritual.
That makes these wee hearts so very precious to me. I wish I could convey this to those thoughtful and generous souls who've brightened my day.
Thanks for this OP, and I'm glad others herein are enjoying these wee hearts.

(10,167 posts)My favorite teacher in grade school made us all bring a valentine for everyone which took that awful pressure of rejection off.
I love these sweet little hearts because they make me feel really good, but I always give myself a heart here just in case I don't get any. Old fears die hard!
